A passionate USH ambassador, mentor and deaf advocate, Qais has taken his message to the United Nations in NYC and the World Health Organisation in Geneva.
His mission? To champion equal opportunities and accessibility for people with hearing loss. Whether he's mentoring future leaders or sparking global change, Qais is your go-to for turning advocacy into action by driving meaningful change and ensuring every voice is heard.
WHAT WE WANT FROM WORLD LEADERS
Qais addressed the United Nations outlining his vision for how world leaders can support people with hearing loss, so they don’t experience employment and housing issues.
UNITED NATIONS YOUTH 2030
As part of the 2023 United Nations Youth 2030 forum, Qais delivered an inspirational keynote speech about creating inclusive cities. He encouraged legislators to implement assistive hearing technology in buildings and transportation systems.
World Health Organisation
In 2017, Qais shared his personal story of living life with a cochlear implant with the World Health Organisation in Geneva. His journey ignited a call to action for leaders to prioritise hearing healthcare.
Global Partnership For Education
Qais is a youth leader at the Global Partnership for Education. Through his work, he advocates for inclusive education policies that address the needs of students with hearing loss and disabilities.
USH Ambassador and Mentor
As a proud USH Ambassador for the Usher Syndrome Coalition and a USH mentor for Ava’s Voice and UsherKids, Qais has worked with disabled children and teens in summer camps in the US and UK, boosting their confidence and social skills. As a deaf mentor, Qais offers compassionate emotional support while boosting development skills.
Cochlear Implant International Community of Action
Qais was a key contributor to the CIICA’s 2024 report, Young Adults with CI Matter. He was instrumental in helping establish a new stakeholder group to advocate for changes that can ensure lifelong CI care.
International Federation of Hard of Hearing Young People
As Course Director for IFHOHYP, Qais organized a six-day workshop with the Council of Europe, focusing on advocacy, leadership, storytelling, human rights and media skills to empower participants in disability rights advocacy.
